This particular machine had been running well in a factory in Queensland, Australia since it was originally installed in 2008. However, after it was sold to <a href=\"https:\/\/halotech.com.au\">Halo Tech<\/a> in Gladstone recently, it was decided that since the original controller on the machine was based on obsolete PCI hardware, the machine&#8217;s controller should be updated to a more future proof solution. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-bab63b14\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-15eb775b\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-80c6d749\"><h2 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">Retrofit Details:<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Machine Configuration:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Servo X, Y (Panasonic Minas A5)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Z Axis driven by DC Motor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>6 x Digital Outputs required<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5 x Digital Inputs required (including limits for X and Y)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Key Control Equipment supplied by MDSmotion:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 x <a href=\"https:\/\/mobiledigitalsolutions.com.au\/index.php\/products\/motion-and-io-controllers\/g2-m100-4-8-axis-motion-controller\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"25\">G2-M104A<\/a> Motion Controller<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 x <a href=\"https:\/\/mobiledigitalsolutions.com.au\/index.php\/products\/motion-and-io-controllers\/isoio-0808-relay-board\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"99\">ISOIO-0808<\/a> Relay Boards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 x <a href=\"https:\/\/mobiledigitalsolutions.com.au\/index.php\/products\/software-products\/mdsnc\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"48\">MDSnc<\/a> PC Software<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 x Mini Industrial PC supplied by customer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Control Methodology:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>X and Y Axis Drives (Panasonic) running in Velocity Mode and commanded by +\/- 10V analog signal from G2-M104A. Position feedback via Quadrature Incremental Encoder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>X and Y uses physical limit switches for homing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relay outputs from 4 of the ISOIO-0808 boards are used to control various operations of the machine, such as pumps, pneumatic valves, motors etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Isolated inputs from the ISOIO-0808 boards are used to interface with sensors and push buttons on the machine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the control software now uses MDSmotion&#8217;s MDSnc, the machine is much easier to operate. Not only that, but since we can make custom changes to our software at our customer&#8217;s request, that&#8217;s exactly what we did. To make life easier for the operators at <a href=\"https:\/\/halotech.com.au\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/halotech.com.au\">Halo Tech<\/a>, and since they have a lot of experience with laser cutting machines, custom changes were made to MDSnc to allow it to support the output of a post processor from a nesting package that they already own. That way, they didn&#8217;t need to purchase and learn any new software packages, saving time and money.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"720\"
